EPIK Journey

I searched online and found a company out of Canada that was a go-between for getting a teaching job in South Korea. After a few months working with them, I was on a plane heading to Seoul on January 7, 2009. After arriving there, I spent a few days walking around, but the cold drove me to seek shelter in Bangkok, where I spent nearly a month in the warm weather before returning back to meet my EPIK leaders in Seoul on February 9, 2009.

With EPIK and nearly 600 other teachers, we headed by bus to a remote university for 10 days of intensive cultural integration and training. It was quite nice as I met many others there whom I still hang out with to this day. This two week stint involved daily classes revolving around Korean culture, teaching English, classroom techniques, and other helpful (but sometimes dreadfully boring) classes.

Upon being brought to Busan, I met my school caretakers and my journey began. I was taken to Busan International High School, was given a tour, and then shown my apartment. A brief HOMEPLUS visit got me some needed household items before I finally was alone for the first time in a few weeks. Needless to say, for an introvert, this whole process was a trite trying. But now I was ready to begin my Korean teaching career.
